JKU sociologist Johann Bacher is taking a look at the impact the measures are having on the approximately 215,000 Austrian children living in small, sometimes cramped, housing conditions. The article also addresses measures to reduce the impact.

A second study by Bacher also looks at how many people have no access to any private open spaces, such as a balcony or backyard. The problem is that the smaller the apartment, the more likely it is that the apartment will not have a balcony or yard space. The bottom line is that people in tight quarters are at a double disadvantage.
