After offering the vaccination to employees at universities in Upper Austria, the JKU and the Upper Austrian government are now implementing an additional measure to combat the pandemic. The screening and vaccination stations will be very important in lieu of providing on-site classes, etc. on campus this fall.

JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas remarked: "The coronavirus test station opened on January 11, 2021, and since then, the staff has conducted approximately 12,000 rapid antigen tests on campus for university employees and students. I am pleased that we can now offer services to everyone in Upper Austria and that our screening station will be listed in Upper Austria’s official testing program. I would also like to thank to our dedicated team that is in charge of the JKU screening station. I would like to extend an invitation to everyone in Upper Austria to come to the JKU and get tested at our screening station."

Christine Haberlander, deputy governor and Health Officer, added: "The common ground to safely re-open and return to normal includes adhering to Austria’s 3G regulation of being either vaccinated, tested, or recovered from Covid. The JKU screening station - now open to everyone in Upper Austria - as well as the vaccine are important measures to combat the pandemic. Students are hopeful, too, that along with the 3G regulation and a low rate of infection, student life can return to normal. We would like to thank the JKU Linz for its contribution and commitment during these challenging times."

Located at the Johannes Kepler University Linz behind the LIT Open Innovation Center, the screening station is open Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Appointments can be booked at Österreich Testet (oesterreich-testet.at), opens an external URL in a new window. The JKU screening station certificate fulfills the requirements under the Austrian 3-G regulation as well as those outlined in the COVID-19 entry regulations (the "Green Passport").

Company Vaccination Program for University Employees
In addition to on-site testing for Covid-19, last week at the Kepler Hall, the JKU began a vaccination program. The Upper Austrian government provided the Moderna mRNA vaccination to all employees at universities in Upper Austria.

Rector Meinhard Lukas stated: "3,250 initial vaccinations were carried out as part of the vaccination program for university employees at Upper Austrian universities. I am pleased that the program was so well received and I would like to thank the state of Upper Austria for this great opportunity."

In regard to the coming the fall, "If the numbers and the rate of infection remain low, the JKU would like to return to the classroom this fall. The screening station and the vaccination program are important measures to support the 3-G regulation and ensure our employees’ health and safety."
