The JKU in August: An AI and Digitization Hotspot
At the end of August, over 200 top scientists will come together at the JKU for the 2019 DEXA.
Full circle: To mark the 30th anniversary of the conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA), the symposium will return to the ‘home’ of its creators, Dr. A Min Tjoa and Dr. Roland Wagner. Markus Achleitner, State Councilor for Business and Research, remarked: "An honor for Upper Austria as a location of research."
DEXA focuses primarily on the very early development stages of research applications. Earlier DEXA conferences had already addressed issues regarding Industry 4.0, cloud computing, and recommendation systems at a time when only a handful of people knew about these types of methods.
The Institute for Telecooperation at the JKU will be organizing the program schedule and this year, for the first time, the conference will be organized by Software Competence Center Hagenberg Ltd. (SCCH). Of the over 200 registered participants, over half will be coming from Asia where DEXA has long been highly regarded. Prof. Dr. Gabriele Anderst-Kotsis, head of the Institute for Telecooperation and the Department for Cooperative Information Systems at the JKU, is responsible for the conception of DEXA in Linz and added: "Many participants will be coming with their families."
