The JKU Mourns the Passing of Univ. Prof. Hautmann

Hans Hautmann, professor of Modern and Contemporary History, passed away at the beginning of July at the age of 75.

Born in 1943, Prof. Hautmann joined the JKU in 1969 as a university lecturer. He became a graduate teaching assistant in 1970 at the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History, earning his university teaching qualifications in 1982. Prof. Hartmann carried the academic title ao. Universitätsprofessor and served as the institute’s department head for many years.

He also served as president of the KPÖ’s Archives and Library Association and from 1998 to 2007, he served as president of the "Vereins zur Förderung justizgeschichtlicher Forschungen". He has received numerous awards and accolades for his academic work, including the Theodor Körner Foundation Grant by the Theodor Körner Foundation, an award by the Chamber of Labour for his academic work, and the Victor Adler State Award for the History of the Labor Movement.

Hans Hautmann’s passing will be keenly felt by the faculty and students at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. The university will continue to honor his memory and remember Prof. Hartmann as a popular faculty member and a heartfelt person committed to research and academia.
