The JKU ranks well in the U-Multirank THE Golden Age Ranking and in the QS World University Ranking from consistently good to very good, thus maintaining the university’s position.
U-Multirank provides information about 1,600 universities in 95 countries. Instead of a ranking list, the respective indicators are presented in a ‘sunburst’ (see figure). Grades awarded range from A (very good) to E (weak). A total of 18 A and B indicators rate the JKU highly in an international and national comparison.
With three A indicators and 2 B indicators, the university performed particularly well in the areas of “knowledge transfer” and “international outlook”. In the area of “research”, the university did well receiving 2 A and four B indicators and maintaining good standings from the previous year in the area of “regional commitment”.
Golden Age: Only Austrian University Ranked
Published for the second time, the Golden Age ranking was published by Times Higher Education (THE) and the JKU was the only Austrian university in the ranking list. The list includes universities established between 1945 and 1967. Based on five categories with a total of 13 indicators – Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income and International Outlook – the Kepler University ranked 80th among the top 200.
QS: Advanced in the Rankings
The JKU advanced in current 2018-2019 QS World University Ranking to 456th place (after 471-480). In an international comparison, particularly in the number of citations and students per faculty, the JKU performed very well.
The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking is conducted annually, ranking the top 1,000 international university based on six indicators. The Academic Reputation Survey 40% and Employer Reputation Survey 10% are weighted strongly. Research is measured by the number of citations (20%) and the student-to-staff ratio (20%). The international outlook for students and researchers contributes to 5% each.
