In addition to the Upper Austrian team, teams from Salzburg and St. Pölten also qualified for the finals in Russia. Before the final competition started, experts from the security sector took advantage of being at the event and use the opportunity to network and exchange the latest information in the field. One student even took part in a round table about ‘fake news’. Thursday was the moment of truth and team “UpperSec” (consisting of three JKU students and 4 FH Hagenberg students) were ready to compete. After initial minor technical difficulties, our team got off to a good start and at one point, they were even in 2nd place.

Subsequently, the Russian team – who were favored to win - lived up to their role and the Upper Austrians came in at 6th place. UpperSec reached the goal they had set for themselves, placing as the best non-Russian team.

Even though our team flew back to Austria without an award in hand, they can be immensely proud of their outstanding performance. Congratulations!
