Marcus Gräser and Ernst Langthaler, heads of the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History and the Institute for Social and Economic History, welcomed over 100 guests at the Stadtmuseum Nordico in Linz. Beforehand Michael John gave guests a tour of the "Wer war 1968?" exhibition.

A panel discussion featuring witnesses to history included Josef Ackerl, Irene Dyk-Ploss, Edith Friedl and Helmut Kukacka, speaking about the tense atmosphere of "1968" in Linz and (Upper) Austria. Artist Johann Jascha captured the spirit of "1968" with an expressive artistic performance. Reinhard Kannonier and Roman Sandgruber, two former institute members, provided aphorisms in a word-rap performed by students. The event went late into the night with a casual reception featuring pop music from the late 60s and early 70s as well as a presentation of the institutes’ history in sound and images.

The event was organized by Astrid Faltinger, Michael John, Herta Neiß and Regina Thumser-Wöhs.
