The Institute of Polymer Chemistry (ICP), which has been newly established in 2007 and is headed since that time by Prof. Dr. Oliver Brüggemann, is focussing its research mainly on the synthesis and characterization of functional polymers. Such polymers are intended to be applied in areas such as drug delivery, tissue engineering, or skin care, as well as in chromatography, extraction and catalysis. Furthermore, the institute is working on industrially relevant topics such as degradation of polymers during processing, or immobilization of stabilizers in polymers. Also, polymers from renewable resources play a role at the ICP.
