Young Kepler Uni.

In November 2021, the JKU launched a brand-new university program for children and teens called: "Young Kepler University".

What is the Young Kepler Uni Program?

The Young Kepler University program is a special program for children and teens between the ages of 7 and 16. This program features an exciting, age-appropriate program of workshops and lectures on various topics, aimed at encouraging kids & teens to explore and discover!

The Young Kepler Uni program will take place during 2025 as follows:

  • Saturday, November 8, 2025:
    Medical Sciences & Science for Kids & Teens
  • Saturday, November 15, 2025
    Science for Kids & Teens

This year, participants aged 7-16 years can sign up directly to attend individual workshops; workshop places will be allocated directly on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each group will be accompanied by a JKU student and supervised for the duration of the workshop.

There is no fee to take part! The JKU and its partners will cover the cost of materials.

Registration for November 2025 is expected to begin at the beginning of October 2025.

How does the registration process work?

  1. Sign your child up for one or more workshops that your child is interested in. Registration for 2025 is expected to begin at the beginning of October. Please note a separate submission is required for each child and for each workshop.

  2. Participants will be allocated a spot in each workshop on a first-come, first-serve basis. If a workshop is full, your child(ren) will automatically be placed on a waiting list.

  3. There are no program fees!  The JKU and its collaborating partners will bear all material costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no fee to take part in the Young Kepler University program. The JKU and its partners will cover the costs for materials (see below).

JKU students and designated JKU workshop leaders will supervise all program participants during program hours. You, however, are responsible for getting to campus for the workshops.

Yes, children and teens may go home alone provided the parent or guardian has given consent. Please sign a  consent form, opens a file.

Please bring the document with you on the first day and give it to the group leader.

Yes! You can sign up your child for more than one workshop on all two dates the Young Kepler Uni takes place.

No, meals, snacks, etc. are not included as part of the Young Kepler University program.

The Info Point at the JKU is located in the Science Park 1 building.

The Info Point at the  MED Campus is located at JKU MED Campus I, in the education building (Building No. 4 according to the campus map).

As the Young Kepler University program is intended for children & teens, adults cannot take part in the workshops.

If possible, please take public transportation to get the JKU. The Info Point at the Kepler Hall is only a 5-minute walk from the tram stop "Universität" (tram lines 1 or 2).

If using public transportation to get to the JKU is not an option, you can park in one of our parking lots in order to drop off / pick-up your child(ren). This parking lots are located in front of the Science Park 1 building and directly next to Kepler Hall. The visitor parking rate is € 1.60 for each additional 1/2 hour.

The "Young Kepler University" program is an initiative by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research with the generous support of the state of Upper Austria and the OEAD. The summer program will take place in November 2025 at the Johannes Kepler University Linz.
