In November 2021, the JKU launched a brand-new university program for children and teens called: "Young Kepler University".
The Young Kepler University program is a special program for children and teens between the ages of 6 and 14. This program features an exciting, age-appropriate program of workshops and lectures on various topics, aimed at encouraging kids & teens to explore and discover!
The following subject areas are scheduled on the following dates (subject to change):
There will be a limited number of spots (a total of 240 in all, or 80 spots each Saturday) and those spots will be allocated by lottery. All of those taking part will be divided into small, age-appropriate groups (max. 20 per group). Two trained educators will supervise the group all day and make sure they get to their workshops.
There is no fee to take part. Any applicable admission fees, lunch, and break-time snacks will be provided by the JKU and the cooperation partners; you will not be subject to any additional costs.

Trained educators and designated JKU workshop leaders will supervise all program participants during program hours. You are, however, responsible for getting to campus for the workshops.
Yes, children and teens may go home alone provided the parent or guardian has given consent. Please sign a consent form, opens a file.
Please bring the document with you on the first day and give it to the group leader.
You can sign up more than one child, however, you must register each child separately!
No, because the number of participants in the program are limited. Those signed up will take part in the event on one Saturday during November 2022.
Those in the program will get lunch at the JKU cafeteria as well as fruit and beverages.
No, the program ends at 4:00 PM and childre are to return home. Parents/legal guardians can pick their child up after the program ends.
A total of 240 children will have the opportunity to actively take part in the program during November 2022. This means that each Saturday in November, 80 children and teens will liven up the JKU campus! Program participants will be divided into 3-4 groups according to age, with a maximum of 20 participants in each group.
The Info Point is located in the JKU Kepler Hall.
Your child can expect to take part in a colorful mix of hands-on, age-appropriate workshops and presentations on various topics as well as fun & games!
No, the registration list will be reviewed before spots are allocated. This gives each and every child an equal chance in the drawing to get a spot in the program.
If possible, please take public transportation to get the JKU. The Info Point at the Kepler Hall is only a 5 minute walk from the tram stop "Universität" (tram lines 1 or 2). In addition, the bus stops for the express bus lines 311 and 77 are located close to Kepler Hall.
If using public transportation to get to the JKU is not an option, you can park in our main parking lot for 30 minutes free of charge in order to drop off / pick-up your child(ren). This parking lot is located directly next to Kepler Hall.
PLEASE NOTE: Parking in the underground parking garage or in the parking lot directly next to the Science Park buildings is NOT free!
The organizational process for the Young Kepler University program remains unchanged. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, we are re-assessing the situation on a daily basis as to whether or not the Young Kepler University program can continue to take place. If the program must be cancelled due to changes in safety mandates and protocols regarding Covid-19, information will be available here immediately.
The "Young Kepler University" program is an initiative by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research with the generous support of the state of Upper Austria and the OEAD. The summer program will take place in November 2022 at the Johannes Kepler University Linz.
