Jönköping International Business School (Sweden)

Scope of the Courses/Examinations

The scope of the courses offered at the Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is measured in ECTS credits and there is no need to convert.

Subjects

There are no subjects at JIBS. All courses are worth 7.5 ECTS credits.  § 6 Sec. 5 of the curriculum for Economics states: "If the host university does not offer definite courses in the subject area, credit can still be approved for a combination of courses that would be considered a subject area in adherence to the curriculum." This means that two courses in the subject area with related subject content that adhere to the definition as outlined at the JKU could be approved credit transfer of 15 ECTS credits.

If the subject area content overlaps with courses offered at the JKU, credit will be transferred on the condition that students do not take the content-overlapping subjects at the JKU.

Grades

Courses are given the following grades:

  • Fail (U)
  • Pass (G)
  • Pass with Distinction (VG)

Grades are based on course points.

Grades are converted using the ECTS credit scheme.

When converting the grades to the equivalent used in the Austrian grading system, the weighted average of the international rating scale is created as accurately as possible and then this average is converted to the Austrian system. The result is the following ranking in the grading scale:

1. Course points
2. ECTS Grade
3. Swedish grades (U-G-VG)

Subjects

If subjects correspond to an international university's curriculum - even if they carry an international course title - are eligible for credit transfer. If the subject area content overlaps with courses offered at the JKU, credit will be transferred on the condition that students do not take the content-overlapping subjects at the JKU.

Students will not be able to take specialization subjects at the HEC.

If the international curriculum differentiates between mandatory courses and electives, you must first successfully complete the mandatory courses before electives can be considered.
