The Johannes Kepler University Linz is taking part in the UNIKO's MORE initiative. The program will provide refugees with initial contact to existing educational programs as well as initial access to the university.
Many people who have been forced to flee their home country find themselves unable to start or complete an academic education they began in their home country. The MORE initiative would like to provide support to these individuals and help them enroll at the university in order to continue a degree program.
Since the Winter Semester 2015/2016, a motivated team at the JKU led by Prof. Dr. Johann Bacher has been working to help refugees start or complete an academic education they began in their home country. When the MORE program first began, there was a strong focus on helping students become proficient in German. In the meantime, the program has advanced and is aimed at those who would like to study at JKU.
The JKU MORE program consists of two parts. The MOREclassic program is for refugee students who are enrolled in the pre-study program. The Borealis MORE Grant provides financial aid for degree-seeking students enrolled at the university.
