University Preparation Program.
 

The university preparation program consists of course modules to help you learn German. Depending on your selected major, you will need a B2 or C1 level of language proficiency. The modules have been designed so that you can complete one level in each semester.

The pre-requisite to start the university preparation course is that you have received an acceptance letter to be admitted to a German-language academic degree program and there is a stipulation stating that you must take German-language courses for the corresponding level of proficiency.

When in the university preparation program, you may not attend any courses in your major.

There are three ways to learn German depending on the date you were first admitted to the JKU:

 

Admission to studies by October 24, 2017 Admission to Studies Between October 25, 2017 and the end of November 2018 Admission to Studies since March 2019  
 
  • German Supplementary Examination (will be offered up to and including Summer Semester 2021)
  • The supplementary examination applies to all German-language degree programs
  • You can attend fee-based language module courses as preparation, optional
  • A recognized language certificate (such as ÖSD) on a B2 or C1 level (depending on your selected major) replaces the supplementary examination

  • B1, B2 and C1 are offered
  • Placement in a higher level language course by the Center for Business Languages

  • A module consists of 3 courses
  • B1, B2 and C1 are offered
  • Placement in a higher level language course by the Center for Business Languages
