The Admissions Office is a central contact point for new and prospective students who wish to enroll at the university, disenroll, re-enroll, or transfer to the JKU. We provide in-person information about, among other things, admission requirements, qualifications for admission, and tuition fees.

If you are unable to come by during opening hours, you can drop documents in our mailbox. The mailbox is located at the entrance to our front office and is emptied daily.

FAQs

If you have lost your card, there is a €15 fee to issue a new JKU Card. If you have lost your card, please contact us by sending an e-mail to: zulassung(at)jku.at.

 

Once you have paid the Austrian Student Union fee and/or any tuition fees you may be subject to for the current semester, you can download your current confirmation of enrollment/studies information sheet in KUSSS, opens an external URL in a new window under the menu item "Meine Daten - Dokumente".

Please note that it can take up to five working days until the confirmation sheets are available in KUSSS.

You can disenroll from your major any time in KUSSS.

You can enroll in additional degree programs (Bachelor's or Diploma degree programs without an admissions procedure) within the admission period.

Please note: If you want to drop your current major, you can do this yourself in KUSSS, opens an external URL in a new window under the menu item "Meine Daten - Abmelden".

In accordance with § 63 Sec. 8 of the 2002 Austrian Universities Act, simultaneous admission and enrollment in the same degree program at more than one university or university of education is not permitted. If you wish to enroll in the same degree program at the JKU, you must disenroll from the university you currently attend beforehand and present a certificate of disenrollment when you enroll at the JKU.

Please note that degree programs with an admissions procedure, opens an external URL in a new window can have a different admissions procedure and enrollment requirements.

A prerequisite to enroll in the multi-media degree program in Law is being able to complete the on-site phase. The on-site phase is offered during the Summer Semester and the Winter Semester. Sign up for the on-site phase on the institute's homepage, opens an external URL in a new window.

If you have paid the Austrian Student Union fees or tuition fees at another university or university of education, please send us your current studies information sheet to: studienbeitrag(at)jku.at by the end of the payment period (WS: October 31, SS: March 31)
If you have paid student union fees at a university of applied sciences, please also send us your current studies information sheet. Unfortunately we cannot assume the tuition fees from universities of applied sciences, therefore you will have to also pay the tuition fees at the JKU. You can submit a claim for the Student Union fees you paid twice via the Federal Offices of the Austrian Student Union, opens an external URL in a new window.

The University Enrollment Eligibility Examination is for those who did not earn school leaving certificates (i.e. a "Matura" diploma) but would still like to pursue an academic degree. Those who pass the University Enrollment Eligibility Examination at the JKU are then eligible to enroll and pursue an academic degree.

Admission to the following degree programs is currently contingent upon completing an admissions procedure:

  • Law (there is no admissions procedure for the Diploma degree program!)
