The Faculty of Engineering & Natural Sciences at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a full-time, temporary (five-year) professorship position for a Professor for Theoretical Physics to begin immediately.
The successful candidate will be expected to represent and further develop teaching and research in the academic area of “Theoretical Physics”.
Teaching includes the full breadth and spectrum of theoretical physics covered in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs. In the area of research, the successful candidate should constructively expand on the current spectrum consisting of many-particle theory and theoretical biophysics. Conceivable ideas include, for example, computational material design and/or quantum chemistry
The successful candidate is expected to:
- demonstrate proven experience teaching Theoretical Physics
- have a venia docendi (“Habilitation”) or a comparable post-doctorate qualification in Theoretical Physics
The successful candidate is expected to assume administrative tasks and duties and exercise independent administration at the university. In addition to key professional qualifications, the successful candidate should also possess a strong social skill set.

The annual gross minimum salary as stated in the collected agreement of 2018 is € 70,071.40; any gross salary negotiations are subject to the Rector.
