Faculties & Schools.

Each university offers degree programs in specific subject areas. Each subject area is taught and researched at so-called faculties and schools.

The JKU has four faculties and six schools which, in turn, have their own subject-specific departments where internationally renowned faculty members work and where each year, thousands of new students pursue higher education. Speaking of higher education: If you want to know more about the JKU's faculties and schools, just scroll down a bit.

Kurt Rothschild School of Economics and Statistics

Kurt W. Rothschild, a formative figure not only at the JKU but also in the field of post-war economics, is the namesake for the Kurt Rothschild School of Economics and Statistics. Following in the former JKU Rector's tradition of conducting forward-thinking, pioneering work, those at the Kurt Rothschild School of Economics and Statistics aim to conduct high-quality, internationally visible research in the fields of Epidemiology & Public Health, the Future of Work, and Data Science, thereby bringing empirical economic research together with statistical methods, big data, and digitization. In this regard, we aim to adhere to Rothschild's prognostic words in that "...national economies need to always be mindful that theory should never become an end in itself. It should always serve to shed light on our environment to make things better and more humane."
