The Centre for Distance Studies Austria is an institution at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz with external locations in Linz, Vienna, Bregenz, Saalfelden and Villach.


For the past 40 years, we have been dedicated to helping students earn an internationally recognized academic degree by arranging and supporting flexible distance learning options. You can study flexibly at home, free of time and location constraints. We also provide academic advising and support services.

Distance Learning: Anywhere, Anytime!

We have partnered with the renowned FernUniversität in Hagen, opens an external URL in a new window, Germany's largest open university, for over 25 years. The FernUniversität is the first address in German-speaking Europe if you would like to earn an academic degree in addition to job and family responsibilities, or if you are interested in continual academic education with a school-leaving certificate or professional qualifications. You can choose from an array of internationally recognized Bachelor's and Master's degree programs offered at five different faculties.

At present, approximately 3,000 students in Austria are taking advantage of the opportunity to study at home in addition to balancing responsibilities at home or at work.
