Prof. Elke Schüßler (Institute of Organization Science) and Prof. Susanne Pernicka (Institute of Sociology/Department of economic and organizational sociology) have co-published a new article on "Between Disruption and Integration: Governance of Digital Platforms in the Passenger Transport Sector from a Field-Theoretical Perspective, öffnet eine externe URL in einem neuen Fenster". In this article, they examine the reconfiguration of passenger transportation markets through digital platforms to understand to what extent new market players can impose their interests regarding the governance of these markets. They developed a field-theoretical approach inspired by Pierre Bourdieu’s social theory that takes into account the interaction of endogenous and exogenous forces in struggles about field governance. They empirically compare the passenger transportation sectors in Vienna, Austria, and Berlin, Germany.
