About us

The Institute of Process Engineering was founded in 1997 as part of the section of Chemistry at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. Due to lack of space at the university campus the institute was located till March 2016 in Leonding. In March 2016 the Institute moved to the Campus of the University. From now on the Institute is situated in the new built Technikum. In the ground floor you find all apparates for different procedures in process engineering and the workshop as well as our measuring station, the laboratories and offices are located in the 1st floor. The institute now comes with 5 laboratories.

Research projects are currently carried out in different process engineering areas such as membrane and non-thermal plasma technology, mass transfer/exchange, production and processing of polymers. A new project focuses on the characterization of MF Membranes in subcritical and supercritical CO2.

Beside basic research we are committed to application-oriented research in cooperation with partners from industry. It is our goal to provide individual, economically attractive and ecological concepts to enable our partners to reduce operational costs.

In teaching we endeavour to introduce up-to-date topics of practical relevance to our students. The Bachelor programme offers an introduction into the principles of Process Engineering as well as a Laboratory course to elaborate the course material.

The Master programmes (Technical Chemistry and Industrial Engineering in Technical Chemistry) contain advanced lectures in
Process Engineering and Technology,
Instrumentation and Process Automation,
Chemical Plant Design and Equipment Technology,
Membrane Separation Processes.
