On February 16, 2024, after years of dedicated work at the institute and during his current job, Kirill successfully defended his dissertation.

We celebrated his achievement with homemade treats and plenty of drinks. It was a fun and pleasant evening, filled with laughter.

On February 1st, 2024, to mark the end of the semester, we gathered for a movie night. The film of choice was "Icarus." 

The documentary follows filmmaker Bryan Fogel's daring experiment as he explores the use of performance-enhancing drugs to improve his amateur cycling performance. With the help of Grigori Rodchenkov, a key figure in the Russian anti-doping laboratory, Fogel delves into the murky world of doping in sports, uncovering shocking truths along the way. As the film progresses, the focus shifts to Rodchenkov's pivotal role in the Russian state-sponsored doping scandal.

Before diving into the movie, we ordered some delicious food. And what's a movie night without a little something special to sip on? That's where the Feuerzangenbowle came in. Watching the preparation of this traditional German drink was a spectacle in itself. And when we finally got to taste it, it was simply delicious.

Julian has successfully defended his master's thesis. The subsequent celebration was much fun and lasts until the morning ours. 

Julian will stay at the JKU and start his disertation on February 1st, 2024.

On December 1st, 2023 Fabian successfully defended his master's thesis. The subsequent celebration was very enjoyable, with good food, plenty of drinks, and a special type of "Faschingskrapfen". 

Fabian will stay at our institute and start his disertation on January 1st, 2024. 

Simon has successfully completed his master's thesis. Afterwards, we celebrated with nice food and plenty of drinks.

Jessica has succesfully defended her PhD thesis on
1st of September, 2023. 

At the party we got delicious lasagne and cakes. 
It was much fun and lasted until morning hours.

for the various celebrations.

We will miss you. 

Laila and Leander completed an internship
with us as part of the Young Scientists program. 

For one month they were introduced to the
world of chemistry by our lab assistant Sonja
and our PhD students.

For his outstanding dissertation Tim Gläsel recieved
the Young Scientists Award on July 3rd.

Congratulations for this accomplishment.

With a barbecue in Gini's garden we were able to end
the semester well, and could get the summerfeeling
started with the right amount of beer.

In charge of the food was clearly the head of the institut
who was crowned to the official grill master this day.
Fortunately he could safe a good meal for all of us.  

Thomas has succesfully defended his PhD thesis
on 7th of June, 2023. 

At the celebration there was plenty of food and cake and
the party lasted until morning hours.
