Venue

The conference location is Hotel Schloss Mondsee in the center of the village, within the walls of the oldest Austrian Benedictine monastery dating back to the 8th century AD. In 1810 the monastery had been transformed into a castle. In the hotel, you walk through medieval cloisters and experience 1200 years of architecture, or relax in the castle park with its sweet smelling roses. The hotel includes also a Wellness Spa with a romantic vault bath, an infrared cabin and a Finnish Sauna within one of the oldest walls of the whole building, dating from the 12th/13th Century. There is a bar and two restaurants in the hotel area, where you can enjoy the traditional Austrian as well as the mediterranean kitchen.

The city of Mondsee with a history of 6000 years, including a UNESCO world heritage site, is located at Lake Mondsee in the wonderful region of Salzkammergut in Upper Austria. In the heart of the town center, right at the market square, the famous basilica of Mondsee, opens an external URL in a new window is located, where the marriage scene of Maria and Georg von Trapp from the famous movie "The Sound of Music" was taken.

Travel Informations

BY PLANE:

The closest airport to Mondsee is Salzburg Airport. It is Austria’s second largest airport, at the heart of the motorway network interface Salzburg-Munich-Vienna. There are well scheduled flights to the main European cities and it is well linked up to the main transport hubs of Frankfurt, Vienna, London and Zurich. Coming by taxi or rented car the drive to the village of Mondsee takes approximately 30 minutes. BY TRAIN OR BUS:

The public bus from the city of Salzburg takes about one hour. For information on rail and bus connections go to: http://www.oebb.at, opens an external URL in a new window.

BY CAR:

There is an underground garage in the Schlosshotel (for a daily fee of 12,-- €) and from there an elevator takes you directly to the hotel reception.
