Design and Implementation of an Information Portal based on the Communications Engineering Website

The aim of the diploma thesis is the conception and implementation of an information portal for the Communications Engineering Institute. An appropriate content management system is to be adapted for the administration and publication of the content.
The thesis is divided into five relevant chapters.
After a brief description of the initial situation, the first chapter deals with the survey of the processes on which the information portal is based in the current state.
The second chapter describes the portal development cycle according to Dr. Volker Bach. This forms the basis for the system selection and describes the target state.

Chapter 3 deals with the selection and evaluation of content management systems. The selection of the system to be used is based on the requirements of the institute, supplemented by criteria suggested in relevant literature on the evaluation of content management systems. Five candidates are evaluated on the basis of these criteria.
The selected product and its product scope are discussed in the next chapter.
The last section of the thesis deals with the realization of the application. After a basic description of the extensions used, as well as the rights and group management, the self-created extension for the institute is described in more detail. Problems encountered are dealt with at the end of the chapter.
