Integration of Business and Production Layer: Modeling and Execution of Vertical Smart Factory Processes

The market has changed and require traditional manufacturing to adapt. In order to remain competative, business and production layers need to be integrated, enabeling seamless processes in such future enterprises. Nowadays, there is no approach making the modeling and execution of such processes feasable. A business process modeling language should provide three specific requirements in order depict seamless processes. Altogether, nowadays traditional business process modeling languages, e.g. BPML, seem to be able to depict a seamless process. However, the model needs to be enriched with further information in order to be executed by a workflow engine and, therefore, enabling vertical integration of production and business layer.
