Mobile Tool for Setting Boundary Profiles

When carrying out activities, people find themselves in contexts such as family or work. Contexts differ in terms of the rules, thought patterns, roles and behavioral patterns that a person can adopt. Constant availability and the resulting large number of phone calls, messages and emails mean that a wide variety of contexts are increasingly interspersed, i.e. the boundaries between contexts become blurred. This often has a negative impact on people and the work they are currently doing. Boundary profiles are used to define intersections between different contexts. As existing methods for creating boundary profiles have difficulties in their practical applicability, a mobile tool was implemented in this thesis to create boundary profiles. The work is based on the design science research approach, i.e. challenges are identified in a literature analysis, which are to be overcome by the developed tool. The evaluation of the tool showed that the tool can overcome the challenges, but some suggestions for improvement could be identified. As no further iteration of the Design Science Research Process was carried out for this work, the identified suggestions for improvement form the basis for further follow-up work.
