Social housing and energy efficiency in urban areas of the GSA-Region

The causes and consequences of climate change are closely linked to global urbanisation. Great expectations are placed in the sector of existing buildings to reduce CO2 based on renovations and new environmental technologies. The doctoral thesis examines three central challenges – energy efficiency, climate change adaptation and affordable housing - for increasing sustainability and resilience in the building stock of rental housing. For the empirical part of the doctoral thesis, expert interviews are conducted from organisations of the social housing market and the municipal administration as well as with actors of the energy industry.
