Title:

Sector comparison of open strategy and organization processes: An investigation of the application of open approaches in Austrian companies with more than 500 employees.

Objective:

This master's thesis aims to conduct a sector comparison of open strategy and organizational processes. The aim is to investigate which forms of openness Austrian companies use, to what intensity and in which sectors. The study aims to provide an overview of the influence of a company's sector on the choice of different forms of openness (e.g. Open Strategy, Open Innovation, Open Source Development, Open/Distributed Forms Organization).

Methodology:

To achieve this goal, a representative survey of companies with more than 500 employees will be conducted. The data collected will be evaluated quantitatively in order to analyze the relationship between the sector and the use of open approaches in the companies. In addition, hypotheses regarding the influence of the sector on the choice of different forms of openness will be tested.

Content focus:

The Master's Thesis should address the following major areas:

1. Define and delineate open strategy and organization processes (e.g. Open Strategy, Open Innovation, Open Source Development, Open/Distributed Forms Organization).

2. Review of current literature and studies on open approaches in companies and sectors.

3. Development of a questionnaire to record the different forms of openness in companies.

4. Conducting a representative survey among companies with more than 500 employees (addresses will be provided).

5. Quantitative analysis of the survey results and preparation of a sector comparison regarding the use of open approaches.

6. Testing hypotheses on the influence of the sector on the choice of different forms of openness.
