Overview

Shortly after the implementation of the world-wide first full degree program in mechatronics, the Institute of Technical Mechanics was founded in 1991 and assigned to the Deparment of Mechatronics.

During the nearly 30 years the institute was headed by Hans Irschik, it was a leading force in establishing mechatronics in teaching and in research. Since 2020 the institute is headed by Michael Krommer.

Nowadays, the Institute of Technical Mechanics is nationally as well as internationally renown and it stands for research-driven teaching and a wide range of application-oriented research on a very high level.
