German as a Foreign Language A2 - Fast Track

(6 ECTS, 4 hours per week)

Objectives:
Receptive (reading, listening) and productive (writing, speaking) skills practice at A2 level according to the Common European Frame of References and on the basis of the textbook “Motive A2”

Communicative Skills:

  • Using common expressions and simple sentences in everyday situations
  • Understanding short and simple everyday texts, messages, and announcements
  • Communicating in simple, routine situations (e.g. a conversation with a shopping assistant), exchanging information about familiar topics and expressing wishes
  • Planning activities with others and formulating suggestions
  • Arguing and justifying one’s own opinion
  • Drafting short messages as well as personal letters/e-mails
  • DACH-region culture

Grammar:

  • Connecting devices (dass, weil, wenn, obwohl, trotzdem), indirect questions
  • Perfect tense of separable verbs and verbs ending with -ieren, preterite of modal verbs
  • Comparative and superlative adjective declination
  • Verbs: with dative, or with dative/accusative
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Verbs with prepositions
  • Subjunctive II
  • Passive voice
  • Prepositions followed by dative/accusative

Assessment criteria:
Mandatory, regular attendance (at least 80% of weekly classes must be attended), active class participation, written homework (by hand or online on Moodle), weekly quizzes, written and oral final exam
