Numbers can be used to say how many things there are (one, two, three, ...), but they can also be used to bring things in order (the first, the second, the third, ...). Sometimes, things are not aligned in the right order, and then we need to rearrange them. Starting from this observation, the children discovered the concept of permutations and then had some fun carrying out experiments with them. For example, they found out what happens if permutations are composed or inverted. We hope that this morning session raised some interest in mathematical thinking among the kids.
