Welcome to our Department!

The University for Orthopaedics and Traumatology treats all diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The term "orthopedics" comes from the Greek "orthos" for right, upright and "pais" for child - and deals with malformations and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The term “traumatology” means “wound science” and deals with the prevention, development and diagnosis of injuries and wounds. These two medical departments were merged in 2015 to form a common department with common training. Since 2018 there exists also a professorship and since 2022, these two departments have been united in research, teaching and patient care at the University Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Kepler University Hospital.
