Teaching Philosophy.

We place the students at the center of our educational and supervision activities.

We not only provide support services and challenge our students, we also provide opportunities for students to pursue individual interests. As research-driven educators, we strive to make complex phenomena more comprehensible to students and instil hands-on, real-world insight. Our educational philosophy subsequently embraces principles that ensure that students read, create interactive classes, provide feedback and learn by trial-and-error, as well as  harness synergies between education, practice, and research. We also continuously seek to develop and experiment with new educational formats and applied practices.

Thomas Gegenhuber in conversation with students.

Our approach resonates with students: Prof. Gegenhuber received two teaching awards from the Faculty of Business at Leuphana University, as well as three student nominations  for Leuphana-wide teaching awards. Thomas Gegenhuber also participated in the “Organizing in Times of Crisis: The Case of Covid19” course organized by Prof. Leonhard Dobusch (University of Innsbruck) and Prof. Elke Schüßler (JKU Linz), which won the Aspen Institute, opens an external URL in a new window Ideas Worth Teaching Award.
