This course is offered each year during the Summer Semester. There is one on-site date at the beginning of March.

The JKU will recognize your volunteer work in the form of 4 ECTS academic credits to count toward autonomous coursework requirements as outlined in your curriculum. To date, academic credit is only available for volunteer work as a paramedic or firefighter. We are currently exploring how to recognize other forms of volunteer work and the Austrian Student Union will provide information once it is available.

In order to be eligible for academic credit, you must meet the following requirements or submit the corresponding documentation and/or verification:

Paramedics: Written confirmation by a supervisor confirming a minimum of 100 volunteer hours (from the start of enrollment at the JKU), excluding any hours deemed as part of an apprenticeship or alternative civil service, as well as a copy of the paramedic certificate.

Firefighters: Written confirmation by the commander confirming a minimum of 100 volunteer hours (from the start of enrollment at the JKU), excluding any hours deemed as part of an apprenticeship or alternative civil service, as well as a copy of the "firefighter's pass" (=Feuerwehrpass), or a syBOS extract confirming that the candidate has completed a minimum of one advanced vocational training course in the field of firefighting.
