On June 19, 2023, the Heinrich Lecture took place for the third time, dedicated to the memory of the esteemed scientist Prof. Lutz J. Heinrich. This year, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke, an outstanding scientist in the field of business informatics and business process management from the University of Liechtenstein, was the guest speaker.

Under the topic "Process Science - A Modern Business Informatics for Understanding and Shaping Change in Business and Society", Prof. vom Brocke offered the participants a deep insight into business informatics in an informative lecture. Traditionally, this discipline has been concerned with the design, use, and impact of sociotechnical systems in which individuals use technology to accomplish various tasks. However, Prof. vom Brocke raised a thought-provoking question in his talk: Is the focus on systems still accurate in the current context? He argued that business informatics should instead focus its attention on understanding and designing processes. By shifting the focus from systems to processes, he said, the field can better adapt to the changing dynamics of business and society.

The lecture captivated the audience with its exploration of this fundamental perspective and stimulated discussion and reflection. The Heinrich Lecture has become a valued event for intellectual exchange. The event honors the invaluable contribution of Prof. Lutz J. Heinrich by inviting prominent scholars to share their insights and expand the frontiers of knowledge.
