On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christine Mitter, Head of the Accounting & Financial Management department at the Department of Business & Tourism at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Research Fellow at the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa and lecturer at the Institute for Controlling and Consulting at the JKU gave a guest lecture in the course "Ethics and Society". Prof. Mitter lectured on the topic "Diversity on the Management Board and Supervisory Board - current developments and implementation status at listed Austrian companies". She not only offered the attending doctoral students interesting insights into the diversity of Austrian executive boards and supervisory boards, but also showed current developments in diversity on boards in South Africa and the USA. The presentation of the different international incentive measures to enable more diversity, as well as the associated advantages and disadvantages, proved to be particularly informative. The latter aspect in particular allowed for exciting follow-up discussions among the course participants about how and to what extent diversity in Austrian companies could be promoted even more.
