Digital Technology and the Digital Revolution offers an enormous potential for people with disabilities, the ageing population and many others in diverse situations. Many features of standard operating systems and software/hardware already integrate so called Assistive Features, which originate from R&D in Assistive Technology but show potential for many more users. Many users with disabilities depend on specialised Assisitve Technologies (ATs) to interface the standard HCI and via this the exploding number of digital tools, systems and services. 

In this lecture combined with a practical part  

• we present the broad range of ATs, for accessing and using digital tools (via the HCI), for people with restricted or no 
  • vision
  • hearing
  • motor skills
  • cognitive functions
• we discuss why ATS gain more and more attention and importance (business, legal, socio-economic, demographics)
• we look into very specific examples of AT R&D and
• we will work in groups on a small practical example of AT.
