DFG Network Field-Configuring Events

So-called "field-configuring events" such as conferences, fairs or festivals offer their participants the opportunity to meet with other central actors in a limited time and place, to exchange information and to coordinate activities. Therefore, such events are an important means for institutionalization work, because they often shape new formal standards, informal norms or even networks of relationships that make up an organizational field. In 2013, Prof.in Dr.in Elke Schüßler initiated an interdisciplinary scientific network funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation), which aims to conceptually define field-configuring events and the mechanisms of action associated with them more precisely and thereby develop theory. The methodological advantages of analyzing such events will also be highlighted. The network is composed of the subjects of business administration, sociology and economic geography.
