Empirical Collaboration with the Institute for Retailing, Sales and Marketing

The Institute for Retailing, Sales and Marketing (IHaM) has decades of experience partnering with companies. Successful collaboration is a win-win situation for both sides. To this end, let us outline the following key points of what we can offer and what we expect:

What we offer our partners:

Our core areas of expertise lie in the fields of

  • Retail and Consumer Research
  • Business-to-Business Marketing
  • International Marketing
  • Digital Marketing and Social Media

Our experience working together with partners in various sectors (industry, trade, commerce, banking, tourism, transport) spans many years. A sound, scholarly academic approach based on state-of-the-art literature and methodology has always been a priority for us.

The range of potential research approaches includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches. We use scientific methods and professional software programs to collect and analyze data. At the end of a successful project, we prepare a report containing the findings hold a presentation about the results.

When it come to hands-on, real-world projects, we believe one of the most key aspects is to obtain and formulate recommendations intended to serve managers and decision-makers. By involving students at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level, our projects include the scholars and managers of tomorrow. We provide project management services ranging from A to Z, including project planning, execution, and preparing findings. We are also more than happy to talk about our hands-on projects in a media-friendly manner by means of our online and offline channels.

Collaboration provides our partners with an opportunity to introduce themselves to graduates as a potential attractive employer. If project-related funding is available, we would be happy to provide support during the application process.

What We Expect From Our Partners:

When defining and outlining the topics, we attach particular importance to timeliness and research relevancy. The mutual phrasing to pursue and attain the objectives is indispensable in order for the project to be successful. Our partners' experience, expertise, and management skills are crucial to the project's success.

Both parties will nominate competent and reliable contact persons at the start of the partnership. Providing constructive feedback on a regular basis will support the project's progression in a timely, targeted manner, allowing time to make any necessary changes. As part of a preliminary discussion, financial compensation/remuneration will be agreed upon. In principle, the following points apply:

  • Course Projects: € 3,500
  • A project as part of a Master's thesis: € 2,500
  • A project as part of a Bachelor's thesis: € 2,000

In addition, variable survey costs will be invoiced, such as travel expenses to collect data, panel costs for web-based surveys.
