Social change and sustainability

Organizational research can also make a significant contribution to major social issues and challenges, so-called "grand challenges". For example, researchers at our institute have analyzed the organization of UN climate conferences in terms of which processes, but also which norms and rules impede progress in the climate policy process. A special focus of our institute is the question of how global production networks can be made more sustainable, both ecologically and socially. In addition, we deal with organizational and thereby always also social changes brought about by digitalization. One example of this is the study of different organizational forms in the context of the so-called "sharing economy" and their contribution to a more sustainable lifestyle. Equality work in organizations and an analysis of the social changes required for this is also an important thematic focus in our research. Finally, we also deal with research ethics issues.
