The LIT Open Innovation Centre was the venue for a hackathon, the "Student Plastics Challenge".

Based on the content of the "Management and Marketing" course at the Institute of Retailing, Sales and Marketing (Dr Christiane Steinlechner, MA), the students had the opportunity to spend a semester intensively examining various aspects of the plastics industry. From legal framework conditions to ESG criteria, SDG goals, greenwashing and recycling, important topics were covered.

During the pitching preparation, the students were supported by experts from the JKU and various practitioners. The highlight of the event was the teams' pitch, in which they presented their solutions to a high-calibre jury (including Vice Rector for Finance and Entrepreneurship Mag.a Tusek and Institute Director Assoc.Univ.-Prof. DI Dr.mont. Jörg Fischer, Birgit Wimmer from tech2b Inkubator GmbH, Michael Thaler from Teach for Austria and Maria Buchmayr from the JKU Sustainability Office).

The team from Greiner delivered the most convincing pitch and won the Student Plastics Challenge.
