The Institute of Analytical and General Chemistry consists of two departments, the Department of Analytical Chemistry and the Department of General Chemistry.
DEPARTMENT OF ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL CHEMISTRY
The Department of Analytical Chemistry stands for excellence in organic analysis and trace analysis of organic compounds in samples of various types (environment, technical products, food, clinical samples, etc.). For this purpose state-of-the-art analysis equipment is available, so that both basic research and application-oriented research can be carried out on an international level. The Department of Analytical Chemistry is active in various projects with industrial partners as well as with medical institutions and is open to new collaborations. In the field of analytical chemistry, students gain an insight into the basics and into various special areas of chemical analysis. The topics for Bachelor and Master theses prepare students efficiently for later career entry or for a dissertation.
The Department of General Chemistry is primarily concerned with imparting basic knowledge in the field of chemistry to students in a wide variety of fields. In the context of lectures, exercises and internships, the students are brought closer to the basic skills that they need to successfully complete their studies.
