LIT CPS Lab in Hildesheim: Software Engineering in Cyber-Physical Production Systems

Which challenges in the field of software engineering have to be overcome to enable the successful development of Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS)? This question was the focus of the workshop, opens an external URL in a new window, where 20 researchers from the DACH region gathered in Hildesheim last week. The LIT CPS Lab was represented by four participants.

The researchers exchanged current research results and projects in the field of CPPS. For this purpose, they formed groups to discuss specific problems and to work on possible solutions. Kevin Feichtinger, a PhD student at the LIT CPS Lab, reports: "One discussion group focused on the challenges companies face when developing CPPS software. We discussed the question of how to advance research in this area." For more details, see: https://doi.org/10.1109/ETFA52439.2022.9921568, opens an external URL in a new window

Furthermore, future trends were discussed. Professor Alois Zoitl describes one example: "CPPSs offer the possibility of connecting and dynamically adapting company processes along the value chain. In this way, resources can be used in an efficient manner and processes can be optimized."
