Summer Recap - Department of International Management

August 2020

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have finalised this "Corona-Semester"! As a team, we learned a lot in our day-to-day research and teaching activities and would like to send you in the summer holidays with a few reflections of our experiences:

  • The only constant is change: we have to be ready to change our teaching and research approach ad hoc, be prepared for a mixture of online/offline working in the upcoming winter semester
  • Be flexible: the delivery of virtual courses requires more time compared to a physical setting and what can be delivered in a physical setting doesn't necessarily work in a virtual one. Technology is more reliable now than ever, but still there are hiccups.
  • Embrace new things: although, blended learning is not a new phenomenon, many universities were not forced to take the leap into the virtual world. Hence, the situation pushed many of us out of our comfort zone, where quite often magic happens as well

We are grateful that everyone is healthy and we are happy that we managed to have a successful and inspiring summer semester in the midst of this pandemic. We are looking forward to the upcoming winter semester and the new experiences that await us. In the meantime, we thank our students and colleagues for their hard work and dedication and wish everyone a relaxing summer!
