Cytometry

The Core Facility Cytometry offers a wide range of highly specialized services in the field of cellular analysis and sorting for biomedical research. Equipped with state-of-the-art flow cytometry and cell sorting instruments, it assists researchers in the examination and characterization of cell populations, immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, and cell function studies. In addition to training on equipment and various software, the Core Facility Cytometry also provides consultations in sample preparation, project planning, as well as analysis and interpretation of data.

Devices

Cell Analyzer

Our Core Facility is equipped with three state-of-the-art flow cytometers, each featuring 3 lasers (405, 488, 640 excitation wavelengths), up to 13 fluorescence channels, and with a spectral cytometer offering up to 38 fluorescence channels.

Spectral detection provides advantages such as simultaneous use of dyes like BV421, Super Bright 436, and eFluor® 450, APC and Alexa Fluor® 647, optimized detection of weak fluorescence markers through autofluorescence correction, and the combination of two side scatters (488/405 SSC).

After successful completion of the required training and approval by the Core Facility staff, these instruments are also available for independent use by researchers.

Cell Sorter

1. BioRad S3e Benchtop Sorter

The BioRad S3e Benchtop Sorter, equipped with a few fluorescence detectors and user-friendly technology, simplifies cell sorting. It allows simultaneous sorting of up to two subpopulations and depositing single cells in various formats.

2. BD FACSAria™Fusion High-End Sorter

The BD FACS Aria Fusion, featuring five lasers (355nm, 405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 640nm) and 18 fluorescence channels, enables complex high-speed cell sorting, high-purity sorting, deposition in various formats, and simultaneous sorting of up to four subpopulations.

Operation of the cell sorters is primarily conducted by Core Facility personnel. However, particularly regarding the use of the S3e Benchtop Sorter, there is an opportunity for the Core Facility to grant independent usage authorization to individual researchers with sufficient experience and completion of the required training.
