regarding statistical consulting and data analysis at the CCS Linz.

Statistical consulting is requested by submitting the completed registration form to medstat(at)jku.at. The Team Statistics will answer within 3 working days and send a link to book a meeting.

The first 6 hours of statistical consulting are free of charge for

  • employees of the medical faculty (MED) of the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz
  • researchers of university clinics and institutes of the JKU

To ensure an efficient statistical consulting meeting all persons involved in the project should participate.

For an efficient statistical consulting meeting questions regarding the statistical aspects of the projects should already be formulated. Further, a short summary of the project should be prepared before the meeting in order to clarify the setting.

We recommend to consult the Team Statistics while planning the project. The consultation at this stage can be used, e.g., to define research questions more precisely, improve the study design or calculate the required sample size.

The Team Statistics helps with:

  • study design and sample size calculation
  • writing the statistical analysis plan
  • writing the biometry section of the application for the ethics committee
  • answering questions regarding the data acquisition
  • selecting appropriate statistical methods
  • instructing on statistical analysis with software
  • data analysis
  • interpreting results

In the first consulting meeting (maximum duration: 1 hour) the most important questions are discussed and further steps are defined.
