A new publication!

Congratulations to our team member Dr. Sebastian Raetze and his co-authors from the WHU Institut für Familienunternehmen und Mittelstand (Yasin Yilmaz, Dr. Julia de Groote, and Dr. Nadine Kammerlander) on their recent publication in the journal Family Business Review.

The article labeled "Resilience in Family Businesses: A Systematic Literature Review" critically examines resilience in the context of family businesses. The review integrates findings across 87 publications to reveal key insights into how family businesses navigate challenges and stay successful across generations.

The article proposes an integrative framework for family business resilience, which is focused on the following four distinctive themes:

  • Defining family business resilience
  • The impact of long-term orientation and family values
  • The role of resource and capability endowments
  •  The demonstration of resilience and learning processes

In so doing, the review article enriches the dialogue in this important and fast-growing research field and outlines avenues for future research to explore.

The full paper offering an in-depth understanding of the resilience mechanisms in family businesses is available as open access here, öffnet eine externe URL in einem neuen Fenster.
