The way in which physical objects are currently transported, handled, stored and delivered worldwide is economically, ecologically and socially unsustainable. The currently much-discussed approach to solving this problem is called Physical Internet, a model analogy to the digital Internet, in which transport is handled decentrally using locally available resources so that synergies can be exploited that cannot even be captured with previous concepts.  The Blockchain plays a central role and guarantees that data abuse in a distributed network is prevented.
