The review integrates findings across 87 publications to reveal key insights into how family businesses navigate challenges and stay successful across generations.

The article proposes an integrative framework for family business resilience, which is focused on the following four distinctive themes:

• Defining family business resilience
• The impact of long-term orientation and family values
• The role of resource and capability endowments
•  The demonstration of resilience and learning processes

In so doing, the review article enriches the dialogue in this important and fast-growing research field and outlines avenues for future research to explore.
