A New, Published Version of the Coronavirus Handbook

Manz Publishing released a Coronavirus Handbook on April 15 which contains numerous contributions by JKU researchers.

The new version 1.01 has been online since May 15, the print version was published on May 22. Never before has the legal situation changed in such short periods of time. The Coronavirus Handbook is divided into 18 subject areas, offering legal perspectives of Covid-19-related collective amendments in the form of a clear, real-world handbook.

Questions from the following areas, among others, are addressed:

  • Labor and Social Law: Short-time work programs, working from home, being prevented from going to work and work hours, unemployment insurance, fee & contribution law
  • Civil law and civil procedural law, corporate and insolvency law
  • Criminal law
  • Administrative (judicial) procedural law
  • Tax law
  • Medical professional law, epidemic law, and hardship funds

Prof. Reinhard Resch (JKU) is the book’s editor. Eight of the 18 chapters have been written by researchers at the JKU Faculty of Law:

  • Criminal Law (Prof. Birklbauer)
  • Administrative Procedural Law (Mag. Greifeneder)
  • Corporate Law (Prof. Artmann)
  • Social law - unemployment insurance (Mag. Mayer)
  • Hardship Funds (Univ. Assist. Mag. Hartl)
  • Tax Law (Prof. Bieber and Mag. Bendlinger)
  • Medical Law (Prof. Resch)

The remaining nine chapters were edited by experienced legal practitioners as well as by scholars from law schools throughout Austria. The authors have made a valuable contribution to legally analyzing legal issues associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
