Awards Presented to Top JKU Alumni

Worthy of the Award: Two JKU alumni presented with the 2018 Würdigungspreis.

Since 1990, only 50 top Diploma degree/Master’s theses from the past year are presented with the award by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. All the nicer that two JKU theses were selected for this year’s award.

Dipl. Ing. Thomas Paireder, BSc (Electronics and Information Technology) wrote a thesis focusing on real-time processing of laser ultrasound signals. Paireder is currently a doctoral candidate in Technical Sciences at the JKU.

Anna Katharina Wurm, BSc MSc (Economics) wrote a thesis titeld "Lohn- und Arbeitsmarktvolatilität in Österreich". She is currently writing her dissertation at the LMU in Munich.

About the Award

The Würdigungspreis is an educational state fund award accompanied with €3,000 in prize money. The award is presented to the top 50 Diploma degree/Master’s theses from universities and universities of applied sciences throughout Austria (selected from over 16,000 submissions annually). The theses must be nominated by the university conference or the universities of applied sciences conference.
