JKU Researcher Presented with the 2021 Hanns Abele Award

Economics expert Alexander Ahammer, PhD, was recently presented with the Hanns Abele Award.

Assistant Professor Alexander Ahammer (Institute for Economics at the JKU) was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding 2018 dissertation titled "On the Role of Health in the Labor Market". The 2021 Hanns Abele Award, endowed by the Abele family, is presented for outstanding academic work in the field of "Scientific Foundations of Economic Policy" accepted at an Austrian university over the past five years. Ahammer is now a co-winner along with Bernhard Kasberger.

About Alexander Ahammer

Born in 1989, Ahammer has been a research assistant at the JKU Institute of Economics since 2015 and has been an Assistant Professor for Applied Econometrics and Big Data since 2019. Alexander Ahammer has received numerous accolades for his academic work, including the Best Publication Award at the Institute of Economics (2019 and 2021) and the Young Economists' Award (Austrian Economic Association, 2017). Last year, he was the recipient of the Heinrich Graf Hardegg'sche Stiftung Research Grant.
