The Bachelor's degree program in Teacher Educations Studies Secondary Level (General Education) is offered in cooperation between the locations in Upper Austria and Salzburg, opens an external URL in a new window.  Subsequently, you can also complete your Master's degree in Teacher Education Studies in Linz.

The degree programs (Bachelor's and Master's) qualify you to teach at the following schools:

  • General Education Higher Level Schools (AHS),
  • Vocational Middle or Higher Schools (i.e. HAK, HAS, HLW, HTL) 
  • (New) Middle Schools (NMS)
  • Polytechnic Schools (PTS) 
  • Special Education Schools

Subject Area Combinations for Students in Upper Austria

The Bachelor's degree program in Teacher Education Studies Secondary Level (General Education) requires combining two selected subject areas and one area of specialization.

Studies Introduction and Orientation Phase (StEOP)

After enrolling in Teacher Education Studies Secondary Level, you will be required to complete the StEOP requirements at the start of your studies. The StEOP requirements consists of certain courses that are outlined in the curriculum. Before completing the StEOP courses, you can only get limited academic credit when you take additional courses.

Admission to Studies & Admission Process


In order to be admitted to the Bachelor's degree program, you must fulfill the following requirements.

  • Hold general higher education entrance qualifications (such as an Austrian "Matura" diploma )
  • Complete the admissions procedure: click here (German only) for detailed information.
  • If your first language is not German, you will be required to submit proof of C1 level of language proficiency in German.
